I love aquariums.  I don’t have one, but I love them.  There’s something about the trickle of the water and the graceful motion of the fish as they ease about that just calms the soul.  I bet there are a lot of you out there that have aquariums and devote many hours per month caring for the fish within and their habitat.  Good for you.  It’s a wonderful hobby and can be quite rewarding.

I don’t know why, but fish love to play in the sand or gravel at the bottom of the tank and suck it up and spit it out.  It’s just a fish thing, I guess.  Over the past few months, I’ve had a customer start using our filter sand for his aquarium.  Here are some of the reasons he told me he switched to our filter sand:

  • Cheaper – At $8.00 per 50 lb. bag he says it is way cheaper than aquarium sand which can range from $25 to $75 depending on the type.
  • Cleaner – The sand doesn’t have all the fine particles that tend to cloud the water.  When it is poured in it goes straight to the bottom and stays there.
  • Better for Equipment – Filter sand doesn’t clog the filters and wear out the bearings in the aquarium pump.  Expensive aquarium equipment will last longer.
  • Fish Love It – He says that since he has switched to filter sand, his fish are much more active around the bottom of the tank and spend a lot more time playing in the sand, adding to his enjoyment.

So there you have it.  Try using our filter sand in your aquarium and see what your fish think.  Even if your fish aren’t blown away by the change at least you’ll be saving money, and that’s something we can all appreciate.
